Go Red For Women--heart disease

Question?????

Did you know that heart disease is the number 1 killer among women?

Ok, I actually did know that one because of the media attention it gets. I did not know about this organization until I watched General Hospital on ABC. See, you can learn things from soap operas LOL. Seriously it is the only soap I watch on a regular basis and the only one I tape to watch if I am gone. I do not know why I stuck with it all these years, but it gives me something to watch at night if I can not sleep.

They have been showcasing in their storyline women and heart disease lately and have mentioned this group a few times.

It is free to join and there is every type of information you can think of. It even has videos to watch and they do have a Espanol tab.

So check out the link below and maybe it will help you or a loved one.

It's in a purple box at the bottom of the page. This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use thenumber of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals inexchange for advertising. Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know.

Authors4Charity

I came across this website by typing in authors for charity. This organization gets together with authors who will do free book signings and give a portion of the profits to approved charities. If you are interested to learn more check out their website. There is a lot of information on it for authors, charities, etc.

I was routing around the net tonight and came across this charity: The Nature Conservancy. You can donate once, become a monthly donor, and look for projects near where you live.

Just a friendly reminder to check out all charities before donating either your money or time to see if it's a good fit for you. There are also sites that you can check out how much they actually spend on overhead or how much money they take in and how much of it actually goes to supporting the cause.

You would be surprised how little money some of these charities actually give to their cause. When you see these big events that celebrities go to remember that a lot of them get paid to be there, somebody has to pay for their plane tickets, the food, the flowers, the hall, etc., etc.

Not all celebrities are doing these things because they truly believe in that cause. Many times it's just to boost their image if they've been complete idiots in public, or to keep their names and faces in the spotlight somehow if they're having a run of bad luck with projects, well you get the picture.

Then there are the celebrities that truly care, because they actually go to lawmakers to try to change things for the better. They also spend time in countries and with people if most people are completely honest don't want to go to or be near people with diseases or that are different than you.

Hey, that's human nature, but that doesn't mean you can't change. It doesn't matter what country you live in or what religion you are we are all on this planet together. Maybe it's about time every single person realizes this.

What happens in this country affects everyone around the world somehow. The same goes true for anything that happens in China, Africa, anywhere on earth for us. If it's bad in other countries where do you think those people are going to go to for help?

We do need to help our country first, because folks it's getting worse every year. That doesn't mean ignore the rest of the world. There are many people worse off than us, but if we are a stronger nation in every way than we are better able to help others.
