Women for Women--Helping Women Who Have Survived War

I think some that have read any of my blogs have figured out that I have a
MySpace and Facebook page.
I get little feedback from MySpace when I ask for help or information
but I always get feedback from someone on Facebook.
I asked if anyone had a charity, fundraiser, etc. t
hat they were interested in and I got a response quickly.
Thank you for that.
I am starting to collect quite a few online friends
who all have different interests
and have been through different situations partly because of the part of the world they live in.
One of my Facebook friends
(I do not know if my friend would like to be named so I will not name my friend)
sent me some information and the link for this organization.
This organization helps through
donations, sponsorships, volunteers, and much more
women who have survived wars around the globe.
I was surprised that I had not heard of this organization
considering it has been featured on the United States television program 60 Minutes
and that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have both donated to this organization.
Yep I actually wrote about something to put Ms. Jolie and Mr. Pitt's names in one of my blogs.
If it catches someone's eye to check it out I am all for a shameless plug.
So to learn more check out the website.

I was routing around the net tonight and came across this charity: The Nature Conservancy. You can donate once, become a monthly donor, and look for projects near where you live.

Just a friendly reminder to check out all charities before donating either your money or time to see if it's a good fit for you. There are also sites that you can check out how much they actually spend on overhead or how much money they take in and how much of it actually goes to supporting the cause.

You would be surprised how little money some of these charities actually give to their cause. When you see these big events that celebrities go to remember that a lot of them get paid to be there, somebody has to pay for their plane tickets, the food, the flowers, the hall, etc., etc.

Not all celebrities are doing these things because they truly believe in that cause. Many times it's just to boost their image if they've been complete idiots in public, or to keep their names and faces in the spotlight somehow if they're having a run of bad luck with projects, well you get the picture.

Then there are the celebrities that truly care, because they actually go to lawmakers to try to change things for the better. They also spend time in countries and with people if most people are completely honest don't want to go to or be near people with diseases or that are different than you.

Hey, that's human nature, but that doesn't mean you can't change. It doesn't matter what country you live in or what religion you are we are all on this planet together. Maybe it's about time every single person realizes this.

What happens in this country affects everyone around the world somehow. The same goes true for anything that happens in China, Africa, anywhere on earth for us. If it's bad in other countries where do you think those people are going to go to for help?

We do need to help our country first, because folks it's getting worse every year. That doesn't mean ignore the rest of the world. There are many people worse off than us, but if we are a stronger nation in every way than we are better able to help others.
