National Walk for Epilepsy 28 March 2009

If you like to do
walks for charity
why not do one for
The National Epilepsy Foundation?

When: 28 March 2009
Where: Check the Epilepsy Foundation website to find one near you.
The link is below

Epilepsy is a medical condition in which people have seizures.
There are different types of seizures
depending on which part of the brain
and how much of the brain is causing the seizure.

There are over 3 million people
in the United States
that have some type of epilepsy
and over 200,000 new cases
are diagnosed every year.

Some people with epilepsy have a genetic connection,
but many do not have any family history at all.

Some people can control the seizures with medication,
but there are always those people that medications can not work.

To find out more about
what exactly epilepsy is,
the symptoms,
treatments,
how to donate,
the merchandise store,
how to volunteer,
and so much more

Second Harvest....Food For People Who Need It

With these hard times more and more people are turning to others to help feed their families and themselves. If you are able to donate please do. If you are able to volunteer they have a link for that too. If you need to find a pantry to either donate or because you need help there is a link for that also. If you are a corporation they have a link to help you come up with fundraising ideas.

September 2008 is declared Hunger Action Month.

http://www.secondharvest.org/

Of course Second Harvest is not the only organization that collects food and money to help feed people who desperately need it. There are many many places from schools, churches, stores, and countless national and world organizations out there to help people and who need your help.

So please please whether you need help (and many people will at some point in their lives) or are able to help do not feel embarrassed either way. Jobs are lost, people get sick, divorces happpen as do natural disasters and just plain life. Anyone and everyone will need help in some way or form at some point in their life.

If you are the type of person who has always been willing to give even if it is only a small amount and suddenly you need help just remember the person you did help might actually be the one able to help now.

WE LIVE IN ONE WORLD.....WHAT HURTS ONE PERSON IN ONE SPOT HURTS THE WHOLE WORLD.....THAT ONE PERSON HELPED MIGHT TURN AROUND AND DO SOMETHING INCREDIBLY HELPFUL AND GOOD TO SAVE SOMEONE ELSE

The Charity Guide--Find Charities In Your Area

I have been looking for ways to find out about charities in my area and I came across this website where you can find charities all across the nation. How cool is that!!!

This is a non-profit website that was designed to help to inform and educate people on various charities.

I originally was going just for the Women's Resource Center and came across this website for the whole nation; so, of course I had to let everyone know.

The Women's Resource Center helps ABUSED WOMEN AND CHILDREN.

If you live in the area and have items or cash to donate please let them know. If you are not sure if you have something they can use please call them and ask them what they need. That would probably be better anyway to call first in case they have too many of one type of item and not enough of something else. When I was taking a speech class we actually did a presentation on the Women's Resource Center and learned how hard it is sometimes to help abused women and children.

It is still hard to believe that in this country at this time in history that men and women think that it is still okay to be abusive towards others. It is even harder to believe that people still put up with it. Just think how much better this world would be if we all taught that it is not okay to abuse others and did something to help when we see it.

Just something to think about the next time you get angry or do not want to get involved. Even a little help is better than no help. People need to know that someone out here cares about what happens to them.
